I dont consider myself a huge fan, but i watch from time to time, not religously.

I dont purchase or own any football clothing or memorabilia.

I think maybe companies have found out that more women are starting to watch football and they want to reach them.

I wouldnt know how effective they are at all.

I am not a woman, I am in the Whitman SOM, and im from Albany, NY

- That they were to Italian born American citizens who killed two people in a robbery and were electrocuted.

- This time period was a time of freedom. People were out trying new things just to rebel against the government. Then there was the Vietnam War.

-The only protest i remember in this time was when the Kent State shooting took place, where the national guard shot students who were protesting against the American invasion in Cambodia.

- I'm a 20 year old male. I'm in L.C. Smith college of engineering and computer science. I pass by the mural every day, however i haven't stopped to look at it much.

I hope this helps. I'll be putting up my questions soon, if you could comment it would be much appreciated.

I liked how we were able to analyze the article from the former student. It was good to see it mapped out on the spiral. That gave me a chance to think about my own essay and mapping it out on a spiral as well. However, my vision of the formed argument may be a little bias, therefore i think that when we do it in class it will be good to work with our peers in order to see how an outside perspective views our arguments.

I think the question that dave came up with is specific enough.

The freinds scenes were very funny, but after the profressor said that we were going to compare the friends episode to a boy’s life. I was able to see certain parts in the scenes comparing exactly to what was said in a boy’s life. After the class had a discussion about it, in my opinion I think the new coboy can be considered as Sandy. On a ceratin website and Discorvery episode, most women now a days want a careing and senative male who can be considered as their next best friend. I don’t know if this is rue or not, but when watching the shows Racheal seemed very emotional attached to Sandy. I don’t know if this had any meaning behind it, but Racheal got really emtional attached. While Ross tried to be the big tough male in the episode, when he is usually portrayed as the sensative one.

Overall Brandon good luck on your essay and try to use the question dave came up with.

Has the unfavorable war in Iraq forced the marine corps to increase recruitment in women or minorities?

I think this question is specific enough to be able to give a clean cut answer while providing many facts, yet general enough to give plenty of information to go on.

I still can't believe that nobody caught on the the cowboys in brokeback mountain. I think watching the friends episode really put things into perspective. While the episode was very funny, i was able to notice many similarities to his judgment of sandy and aspects of my own life, whether it be me doing the judging or my peers. Society has been carved into what it is today, and erosion takes a long time to wear down that rock.

The friends episode was great. We were able to go from a national news story about matthew shepard and compare it to a popular television comedy. While these are two opposite ends of the spectrum detailing the same objective, the point is clear in both. Maybe matthew shepard didn't die because he was gay after all. Taking a look at the friends episode really opened up my eyes to how society portrays gender. Men must be big strong insensitive beer drinking football watching people, while women must be the caretakers and nurturers of the household. Even though we have evolved as a society there is still an issue of gender depiction that is uneasy. I am writing my paper on a topic tangental to this one about the NFL targeting women. Most people think that Men are the only ones who watch football, because women don't want to watch strong guys run full speed into eachother, and grunting in a most barbaric way....WRONG. I'll be ble to use my paper to clear up some common misconception with this issue and how the NFL is going about turning a sweet profit on this.

I'm glad that you decided to take another look at possible questions. I think the most interesting topic would be the last question you mentioned.

"Could the Christian community believe that Obama can be the Anti-Christ?"

There is enough to research here, but your question is specific enough to provide focus with your research paper. It would be really interesting to see what you can find on the topic, I am very curious myself. I don't understand how some people can actually think that Obama is actually the Anti-Christ. Personally i think that it is very ridiculous.

I also thought that "A Boy's Life" was a very good example on how an argumentative essay should be written. JoAnn provided a lot of various topics, then somehow managed to tie them all in to her main point. Her essay seemed to flow very well after taking the time to read the essay from start to finish, then having time to reflect on her message in full. She never fully came out and said exactly what she was arguing, however she used descriptive text to allow the reader to understand her point. I also liked her article in that she wrote about a topic that did not have the ability to have a clear cut answer, but using facts and her writing technique she was able to construct a very good argument.

For my visual rhetoric analysis, my three visuals were a commercial of the Marines, the film Schindler’s List, and a clip of newscasts from the Columbine shooting. My writing process for picking my visual was different from yours. I have seen the Marines commercials my whole life, but I had never seen the film Schindler’s List and didn’t know much about the Columbine shooting because it happened when I was only 10. So, you think I would choose my visual on something I could learn about, but the Marines commercials for some reason hit me on a personal level.

The next step was to decide which commercial I wanted to pick. I knew the commercials had been showing on television for decades, but I wanted a commercial from 2008. I decided on not the most recent, but a commercial from early 2008. On my first draft, I only did the basics to the analysis, but it was not nearly what it had to be. On my second draft I didn’t really make many changes, but made my analysis complete for the final copy.

The process was a little bit different for me Andrew. I wish i could have taken the path you took when looking back at the amount of work i had to do for my essay. When i started out choosing my 3 visuals from which to pick from i chose a painting, a clip from a Michael Moore movie and a running poster. While i chose these 3 visuals as possibilities the truth was, that i had already decided to do a painting. Little did i know how difficult it would be to research a painting from an artist from Maine. Instead of the concept map, which is a great idea, i decided to try and get a head start by writing my first draft as a rough draft. My second draft was more of the same. However, i didn't realize that i was writing my paper under the wrong impression of what rhetorical analysis was. I was writing my paper as if trying to solve a mystery of what the artist's meaning behind the work of art was, when i should have been using the rhetorical situation to do that for me. My final draft was pretty much a start from scratch as i needed to re-research and draw different types of conclusions based on the evidence i could find.

I believe that we did this project to get a better grasp of what we can take in from everyday images that we see. I know that from my experiences after writing this paper i have spent more time looking at rhetorical situations presented to my in magazine ads and television commercials. This project provided a strong base of understanding in the field of rhetoric.
